Violence at High School Sporting Event Investigated

The South Bend Police Department takes all incidents regarding school violence seriously and is conducting a complete and thorough criminal investigation into the occurances at recent High School sporting events. It is our intent that any individual (adult or juvenile) involved and identified be prosecuted. This investigation is being made with the full cooperation of South Bend School Corporation officials. The findings will be forwarded to the St. Joseph County Prosecutors Office.


South Bend Police Investigators will be reviewing all evidence including news media and school video for their forensic value as it pertains to the identification of suspects as it relates to possible assault and disorderly conduct charges.


The South Bend Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the individuals that were disorderly during the January 27, 2006 Riley HS Game. This would include anyone that may have private videos and other evidence. If the public has any information regarding this incident, please call the South Bend Police Department Investigative Divison at 574 235-9263 or Crime Stoppers at 574 288-STOP.

It is the South Bend Police Departments intention that all after school activities should be safe from violence or threat of violence and we will be working in conjunction with School Officials, Parents and Community Leaders for this common goal.
