SBPD Arrest Two in String of Robberies

The South Bend Police Department have arrested two men in connection with a string of robberies. The robberies were being committed both in and out of the City, and involved the suspect(s) wielding a sawed-off shotgun.
Arrested was: Willie Anderson, 31; and Donald Mallard, 49; both of South Bend. Anderson and Mallard were both apprehended after they led police on a vehicular chase on the City's North West side around noon today (May 01, 2006). The suspects crashed their vehicle in a vacant lot and ran from police on foot prior to being caught and arrested.
Both men face 7 counts of armed robbery (B-Felony); 1 count of Possession of a Sawed-Off Shotgun (D-Felony); and 1 count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (C-Felony).
The two suspect are currently lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail.
